Ellie Rolnick has been choir director at UUCSB since 2007 and a member of the UUCSB since 1994. Ellie feels that she was called to music ministry and choral leading while attending Choral Fest at Ferry Beach that same summer. In 2008 she helped to create ‘The Harbour Singers’, a choir for end of life. She continues as their music director. Although she has no formal music training other than piano lessons as a teenager she continues ‘on the job training’. She received her Music Leadership Credentials through the Unitarian Universalist Association in 2014 to help her be a stronger leader She is a fledgling songwriter and has written a few pieces for the UUCSB choir. In past years she has been Musician of the Week at Ferry Beach and has led workshops on ‘Singing Meditation’ and facilitated workshops about singing at end of life.
Ellie has been a chiropractor for over 35 years and has an active and thriving practice in Biddeford. She is happily married and has two gown sons. Ellie’s personal mission statement is to ‘save lives through natural healing and music’. Her mission statement as our choir director: “With passion and enthusiasm, I lead people in song to create a bridge between themselves and their spiritual source as well as with each other. I use the message of Unitarian Universalism in the music to facilitate healing, hope and possibility and like a pebble skipping over the water, send ripples into the world and changes lives.”
