As UUCSB’s organist for nearly thirty years, Paul Benya has shared traditional organ music. Classically trained at the esteemed Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., Benya earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with a specialty in Organ Performance. He furthered his education by attending Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN., where he is continuing his master’s program in organ music performance and education. Paul is grateful for his contribution here at UUCSB and appreciates the history and uniqueness of this special community.
Paul is particularly proud of the Church’s 1901 Historic “Tracker” Organ. He adds that the historic organ needs the love of a cherished antique and stresses the importance of restoration and maintenance of this valuable instrument. Paul has remained at UUCSB for many years – in part because he loves the incredible experience of playing such an historic instrument, but also because of he connects with this Church community.
